Chapter 5

It was a quarter until four as I finished getting ready for my dinner date with Patrick when the doorbell rang. I finished putting on my red bandage dress and went to answer the door checking to see who it was. My heart leapt into my throat as I hesitated opening the door to gather my composure. After a deep cleansing breath I opened the door to find Patrick standing there with a bouquet of red roses, "Hey beautiful, I thought I would surprise you and walk you down" he said extending the roses to me. I took the flowers out of his hands drawing them to my nose and inhaled deeply, then smiling, "thank you they're beautiful." I said kissing him, "please come in and make yourself something to drink in the kitchen, I have several different types of Gin, some vodka and a couple of single malt scotches if that is more your speed. I will just be a few more minutes" I said, finding a vase to put the flowers in before setting them on the counter. I walked back into the bathroom to put the final touches on my makeup. I heard him walk into kitchen and call back, "That works. Hey, you have some Bowmore, I love this stuff" he said. Finishing in the bathroom, I grabbed my Louis clutch and slid on my favorite black Louboutins and walked out to the kitchen. "Soo, how do I look?"

He looked up from his drink as I entered the kitchen and a huge grin spread across his face, "If I were to perhaps say very fuckable, that would be considered less good than say breathtaking?" he said in his normal half sarcastic yet playful way.

I tapped my foot and frowned in mock chastisement, "stick with the latter of the compliments and we will start this evening off on the right foot" I said with a smile at the end.

He laughed, "jolly good old bean. Breathtaking it is" he said with extra emphasis on his accent as he offered his arm to escort me; "our driver awaits us". I took his extended arm and we left the apartment, I paused to lock up then we headed for the elevator and out to the street were his driver was waiting in a slate gray Rolls-Royce Phantom. Holy shit a Rolls Phantom! He's pulling out all the stops, I thought to myself. As we approached the driver exited the Phantom and opened the door for me. I thanked him and Patrick in I climbed into the back seat. "Not too shabby of a ride. You are off to a pretty good start this evening. Where are we having dinner tonight?"

"I made reservations for us at the Mandarin Oriental. It has a beautiful view of the Manhattan skyline that will be magnificent as the setting sun envelops the buildings in orange fire along the horizon. Also the food is pretty good, but I was aiming for something romantic first" he said with a flourish.
